Click on the links above to view team rosters. Coaches will connect with families this week, but please note that today is the league deadline for team rosters, so we don't have a lot of additional information at this time. We'll try to organize a practice next week and get the kids sized for uniforms, shooting shirts etc. The Western Maine Basketball League [WMBL] is a Sunday League. The first weekend of games in slated for early December - Again, more information to follow. We will "register" the players for their respective teams next week, so be sure to let Ally know if your child no longer wishes to participate, asap [ akennedy@alymca.org ].

  • Kids playing travel are required to participate the Y’s Biddy Basketball [in-house] program to be eligible.
  • The cost for travel is $115. Scheduled Payments will be an option for those wanting to spread out payments over November [$60], and December [$55]
  • Kids will get a uniform that is turned in at the end of the season.
  • Each player will get a Y Logo’d shooting shirt, with their name, that they will keep.
  • Travel practice is once a week for about 90 minutes, typically at a local public school [days/dates/times/location TBD]. We do our best to ensure that travel practices do not conflict with in-house practice, though some might have travel and in-house practices back-to-back, on the same night.
  • Away games on the weekends will require travel. Home play days will be local [i.e. EL, St. Dom’s, LHS – TBD]

BasketballBIDDY BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The YMCA Co-ed Biddy Basketball League serves Auburn, Lewiston, and the surrounding communities by affording boys and girls in grades 1–6 an opportunity to participate in an organized basketball program.

This Y program is designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball and to develop kids’ skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting in a team environment. The Biddy Basketball League offers three divisions: Rookie [grades 1-2], Pee Wee [grades 3-4] and Junior [grades 5-6]. Each division will conduct a player evaluation and draft, recognizing individual talent levels in order to provide the best possible scenario for equal play among teams.

Youth Basketball at the Y is more than just learning the game. Programming is based on character development and the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The focus of the program is to have each child gain an understanding of the game, improve skill level, learn team play, build self-esteem, show good sportsmanship, and most of all have fun! Financial Assistance is available for qualifying families.
