As the people on the front lines, our local first responders and medical professionals play a critical role in responding to and helping our communities recover from disasters. The coronavirus pandemic is day-by-day becoming one of the worst disasters of the decade. EMS personnel, firefighters, police officers and other first responders put themselves at risk each time they act in the line of duty. Our medical professionals - doctors, nurses, CNAs, administrators, and countless others - continuously put themselves at risk as they care for the sick and suffering.
At the YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston, we proudly salute each and every one of their efforts! And to do our part, while they are caring for those in need around greater Lewiston-Auburn, we are supporting their families through emergency childcare and school-age care. Our Daisy Garden center, located at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, is open specifically to the children of first responders and medical professionals during this uncertain time.
If you or your family fall into the category as a first responder, or work as essential personnel for any of our area medical facilities or hospitals, we can assist you in caring for your children, age 6 weeks to 11 years old. Our Daisy Garden center is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. If you need assistance outside of these hours, many of our trained, certified staff are willing to care for your children at your home. For more information on how we may assist, please email Tina Jennings at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to support the Y's Emergency Childcare Support mission, you can donate on the Y's website by clicking here and dedicating your gift in honor of "first responders" or "medical professionals."
A special "thank you" to our friends at Skelton Taintor & Abbott for their dedication and support of our community during these unprecedented times!
