Youth Swim Programs
Help kids get safe around water. Y swim lessons build water skills at all levels. The goal of our Swim Lesson Program is to teach children to be confident, competent swimmers and educate them about the importance of being safe in and around the water. Our program uses a guided-discovery, problem-solving teaching approach in a positive, caring and supportive environment for children ages 6 months through 12 years. Progressive Swim Lessons

PARENT AND BABY
Ages 6 months to 2 yrs; Members $35, Community $60
30-minute class introduces infants and toddlers to the water. A parent is required to participate in the class with the child as we learn paddles, kicks and have fun playing ball. Babies must wear swim diapers.

Placement in this class requires child to independently hold onto the wall and keep his or her head out of the water. We swim the width of the pool with assistance and have fun with kickboards and noodles.

These little swimmers have completed Tiny Tots requirements and are swimming the width of the pool on their fronts and backs with only some assistance. We learn to float on our fronts and backs, jump into the pool and play games underwater.

For swimmers who are able to float on their fronts and backs, jump in the pool and swim underwater. Work on learning to glide underwater and to perform a dive.

This is a stroke improvement class. Swimmers swim four consecutive laps of each stroke. level 4: Breaststroke and sidestroke, dolphin kicks and long shallow dives are introduced. level 5: All strokes are refined through continuous swim.

Twin Cities Swim Team (TCST)
Our YMCA competitive swim team is designed to instill our Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The program is open to boys and girls ages 6-18 who are able to swim the length of the pool.
Led by Coach Tom Manduca, this program teaches swimmers to set goals, work as an individual and as part of a team while improving swim technique through the fundamentals of the four basic swim strokes. Day and time is dependent upon ability.
Swim team abilities range from those just graduating from swim lessons to those representing the team at regional and national meets. Summer session for our YMCA Twin Cities Swim Team, ages 7-18, begins Mon, May 6 to July 24. Coaches group swimmers by ability.
