The Y
is a cause for strengthening community. That’s why we’re here
working with you every day, making sure that you, your family
and community have the resources and support you need to learn,
grow and thrive.
With a focus on developing the potential of kids, improving
individual health and well-being, and giving back and supporting
our neighbors, your membership will bring about meaningful
change not just within yourself, but in your community too.

When you join the Y you belong to a place where:
● Parents find a safe, positive environment for
children to learn good values, social skills and behaviors.
● Families come together to have
fun and spend quality time with each other.
● Children and teens play, learn
who they are and what they can achieve, and are accepted.
● Adults connect with friends,
pursue interests and learn how to live healthier.
● Communities thrive because neighbors support
each other and give back.
● We all build relationships that further our
sense of belonging and purpose.
● The Y is a nonprofit like no
other. Be a member of something special.
Fundraising Golf Tournament a Success!!

John Ladd, Lena Jo Hartley, Melissa Johnson, and Tom Fournier,
of Team Gipper’s pose for a photo during the 1st Annual YMCA
Golf Tournament & Auction sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts. Gipper’s
went on to win the 1st Annual contest, a cause that helps to
support the many youth and family programs offered at the
Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. To learn more about the YMCA, please visit

Mark your calendars! After the very successful 1st Annual
YMCA Golf Tournament & Auction, the Golf Committee has confirmed
the date for next year’s event: September 22nd at Martindale
Country Club.
This year’s event realized 29 foursomes, 42 sponsors from the
local business community, and 2 dozen volunteers who organized
and orchestrated an effort that raised $21,496. 100% of the
proceeds will go to support the many youth and family programs
offered at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA.
Local businessman and title sponsor of the tournament, Jim
Whitmore, reflected on his years as a member of the YMCA as a
youngster, “As the owner of four area NAPA retail stores, I am
proud to sponsor this event as a way to support the efforts of
the YMCA in engaging children in quality programs, addressing
childhood obesity, and developing character in our youth. For
those of us who participated in the YMCA as a kid, we know how
instrumental those experiences were in developing into
responsible adults. Can you imagine life without the YMCA? This
event will help make these positive experiences possible for
hundreds of children, fostering character and enabling them to
create memories that last a lifetime.
Other winners in the day’s festivities include Mary Curtis
(Longest Drive, female), Tom Fournier (Longest Drive, Male), and
(Closest to the Pin). The team consisting of Chris Shea, Josh
LaPrell, Bob Moulter and Brian DuBois took “bragging rights” for
high score and the accompanying booby prize of a safety vest
(for their time in the Maine woods) and a gift certificate to
Gipper’s to help lift their spirits.
An Auction followed the round of golf, where event tickets,
restaurant packages, spa treatments, weekend get aways, gift
certificates and sports memorabilia received high bids in an
effort to support the cause.
