The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston runs two separate youth basketball programs for children of different age groups:
- Biddy Basketball is for children in Grades 1-6 (starts Nov 2).
- Skills & Drills is for Pre-K and Kindergarten (starts Jan 17).
- Hoopsters Basketball is for Kindergarten and 1st Grade (starts Mar 2).

BIDDY BASKETBALL
Grades 1-6
The YMCA Biddy Basketball League, for boys and girls grades 1-6, is designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball and develop skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting in a team environment. Each division will conduct a player evaluation and draft, recognizing individual talent levels to provide the best possible scenario for equal play among teams.
Rookie Division: Grades 1 & 2
- Practice: Once per week at the YMCA.
- Games: Saturday afternoons at the Lewiston Armory or YMCA.
- Player Evaluations: YMCA Thursday Nov.2nd. 1st grade 5pm / 2nd grade 6pm.
Pee Wee Division: Grades 3 & 4
- Practice: Once per week at the YMCA.
- Games: Saturday afternoons at the Lewiston Armory or YMCA.
- Player Evaluations: 8:15am Saturday Nov.4th at Edward Little High School.
Junior Division: Grades 5 & 6
- Practice: Once per week at the YMCA or Local School.
- Games: Saturday mornings (Location TBD).
- Player Evaluations: 8:15am Sunday Nov.5th at Edward Little High School.
Cost:
$84 for Members
$99 for Non-Members
- Practices start the week of November 6th.
- Biddy Basketball boasts a 12 game season: Nov 18/19, 2023 to Feb 10/11, 2024.
- Each team is limited to 9 players, and each player is guaranteed to play no less than half the game.

Travel Basketball: Grades 3-6
- Participants must be registered and participate in the Y Biddy Basketball League to be eligible.
- Requires an additional program fee, practice time, travel (i.e. Saco), and games on the weekends.
- Anyone trying out for a team must SIGN UP so we can track numbers and gather pertinent information.
- Tryout dates, times, location TBD.
SKILLS & DRILLS
Pre-K & Kindergarten
This is an instructional program for boys and girls who are learning the game of basketball. Players will be introduced to the basic skills, fundamentals, and rules through drills and interactive games. Classes are held at the Y, 62 Turner Street in Auburn.
Session 1: Pre-K
- Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:00 pm
January 17th – February 14th
Session 2: Kindergarten
- Fridays from 4:15 to 5:00 pm
January 19th – February 16th
