Assistant Fitness Center Coordinator


This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Responsible for presenting a positive and competent image of the YMCA through member supervision, support and guidance in positive environment that promotes member wellness.

Job Type: Full-time. Monday through Friday 12 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.


  • Foster an environment where member and program participants connect with one another to form positive relationships.
  • Schedule fitness appointments and conduct fitness orientations.
  • Introduce members to group exercise and fitness program communities based on their health and wellness goals.
  • Assist Fitness Center Director in maintaining and servicing fitness equipment. Report equipment problems to supervisor.
  • Increase member engagement through the promotion of programs and community events.
  • Conducts quality tours to prospective members; make courtesy follow-up phone calls.
  • Attend meetings, trainings and assigned events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or become certified within first 30-days of employment. The YMCA offers free certification to employees.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn YMCA specific applications.
  • Complete all online training requirements as part of on-boarding process.
  • Be open, friendly and approachable to members. Make members feel comfortable and at ease.
  • Group Exercise instruction and personal training a plus.

Group Exercise Instructors

The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston is looking for group exercise instructors who can provide an excellent class experience for our members while creating a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Classes currently offered at the YMCA are:  Step, Cycling, Zumba, Tabata, Boot Camp, Group Power by Mossa, Group Active by Mossa, Pilates, and Yoga.

Before/After School Childcare Provider

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be flexible, reliable and enthusiastic about working with children of various ages in a fast-paced environment.  High school diploma and prior experience working with children is required.

Professional Childcare Provider

The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston is looking for a warm, nurturing individual to join our Nationally Accredited Childcare Program! This successful candidate will be part of our child care team providing guidance and supervision to children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

Gymnastics Instructor

Looking for a qualified instructor who has a passion for teaching gymnastics. Must possess the ability to demonstrate gymnastics skills to students, be knowledgeable about the principles of strength and agility training as it relates to gymnastics instruction.
